Beating the Spring Break Blues

Beating the Spring Break Blues

Shout out to all those parents out there! Spring Break starts this week where we are, and there is lots to think about as we head into the next week.

If you're staying home…

Entertaining your kids can be frustrating if you still have to work through Spring Break. Surely it's not just me. At our house, things that are interactive seem to go a little further to keep our daughter engaged. She got an Echo Dot Kids for Christmas, and we enabled several fun skills for her:

  • Chompers
  • Freeze Dance
  • Disney Hits Challenge
  • Song Quiz
  • NASA Mars
  • The SpongeBob Challenge If you'd rather do some activities outdoors or in the kitchen, check out these science experiments. No time like the present to get your kids interested in STEM! These little experiments saved my bacon when school was closed for 3 months in 2020. I usually set these up so we can do the experiment right before I have to start work, then my daughter can play with it while I work. Here are some of our favorites:

If you're on the go…

Our daughter rarely travels without her tablet. The Endless Alphabet and Endless Numbers apps have been great since she is still in Kindergarten. They are paid apps, but they are worth it. These $19 iJoy Headphones will save your sanity if you're in the same space. And these short binge-able podcasts are actually pretty fun to listen to together: Six Minutes and Remy's Life Interrupted. Download the episodes so you can still listen, even if you don't have Wi-Fi!

And besides keeping the kiddos entertained, you still may want to be able to access things at home from the road. Let us help you install security cameras, like the Ring Video Doorbell, or Floodlight Cam to keep an eye on things while you're gone. Or perhaps a garage door opener or a door lock that can be opened with your phone to let the pet sitter in or allow the neighbors to bring in packages. We can also help you install smart lights that can be turned on or off with your phone too, in case you want to convince anyone driving by your house that it's not vacant.

Enjoy your Spring Break! And reach out to us at hello@texasah.com if you'd like us to help you get your home Spring Break-ready!
